ABOUT THE CLASSES

All classes are meant to help you take better pictures in your everyday life (you know, for all the days you don't get to have a professional photographer with you).

 Whether you're interested in a beginner or a more intermediate class, all classes are meant to be a time of inspiration and fun.  It's not about how to do it the right way but how to make it work for you so that you feel you can actually do it on your own.  All classes are in person with professional photographer Jenn Best and are designed as a small gathering type environment to allow for individual attention where you can actually have your questions answered.  Think small party rather than boring class.  So come and enjoy a nice atmosphere with decor and refreshements, other lovely people and of course the chance to feel more confident about taking pictures.

CLASS EDITIONS

 "Momma edition"  -  This class is geared towards Moms who want to capture moments of their children.  You will learn how to better use your camera as well as how to think about capturing everyday moments of your kids.  This class has refreshements and mimosas. So really, maybe we should call it "Momma's + Mimosa's"

"Dad edition"  -  The Dad class was born out of the Momma class (as so happens in life) where most moms feel that they take a million pics of Dad with the children but there aren't any pics of mom.  We want to make sure that your kids get to see images with fun and loving mom too.  So send Dad to this class to learn how to use the camera so he can get moments with mom in the photo.  We will encourage Dad's to think more often about capturing those every day moments.  Tell dad the class includes beer and chips - maybe that will convince him.

"Travel edition"  -  This class is for those who love to go on vacation but are constantly dissapointed with the pictures you take.  This class will go through the basics of your SLR as well as composition and light tips to help you better capture colours and scenery and memories from your vacation.  

"Lifestyle + Business edition"  -  This class is for those who are running their own creative business and would like to take better pictures of their products for promotion and social media.  This class will go through the basics of your SLR as well as composition and light tips to help you better capture photos of what you create for others. 

BEGINNER SLR CLASS

Do you pick up your SLR and not just use the automatic setting?

Join me, JENN BEST, for a beginners class to natural light photography with your SLR.  Bring your SLR camera and your manual with you so that we can go over how to navigate your camera and all its buttons.  We’ll discuss the basics of how your camera thinks, works, understanding light, exposure, composition, a little about lens selection and how to use different modes on your camera.  As a beginner class there will be more focus on understanding all of the automatic settings with an introduction to more advanced and manual settings.  Everything will be explained in easy to remember terms.  You will walk away feeling more confident when using your camera and be inspired to take more pictures. 

BEGINNER POINT+SHOOT CLASS

Do you want to try and use the other settings and buttons on your camera other than automatic?

Do you want to know more about exposure, light and composition?

Do you just want to take better pictures of your life?

Join me, JENN BEST, for a beginners class to natural light photography with your point and shoot camera.  Bring your camera and your manual with you so that we can go over how to navigate your camera and all its buttons. We’ll also discuss the basics of how your camera thinks as well as the basics of understanding light, exposure and composition.  And how to use the different modes and shortcuts on your camera. Everything will be explained in easy to remember terms.  You will walk away feeling more confident when using your camera and be inspired to take more pictures. 

INTERMEDIATE SLR CLASS

Do you feel like you understand the basics of exposure and other photography elements but, you just can’t seem to get it to come all together?

Do you want to try and learn to shoot in manual mode?

Do you want to learn more about seeing and understanding natural light and exposure?

Do you want to know more about lenses and lens selection?

Join me, JENN BEST, for a four hour intermediate class to photography.  Bring your camera and manual so that you can practice in class with beautiful decor and different natural light.  We will cover topics like manual shooting, backlighting, compression, distortion, depth of field, lense selection and other photography topics.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A CANON CAMERA TO TAKE A CLASS?

No, not at all.  Though I shoot with Professional Canon Cameras and lenses, I have experience with amateur canon equipment as well as equipment from Nikon and other camera makers.  There are many similarities between cameras, sometimes certain functions or buttons just may be located in different places on or within the camera.  So just be sure to bring your manual as well and we'll make sure you understand your camera.  

DO I HAVE TO BE A MOM TO TAKE THE MOMMA EDITION CLASS?

No, not at all.  Though many moms have expressed interest in taking pictures of their family, and to be honest the class will be designed with moms in mind, it is not exclusivesly for moms.  So if dad, grandma or grandpa wants to come too, the more the merrier.  

Or if you don't have kids at all but want to be a part of the class feel free to join us.  Just know that we will use examples of taking pictures of family when we go through the class.

WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept Visa, Mastercard PayPal or E-transfer.  A payment request will be sent to you via email once your registration has been confirmed

IS THE CLASS REFUNDABLE?

It is only refundable if there is someone on the waitlist able to fill your spot.  If there is no one to fill your spot then the class tuition can be transfered to another class on a future date.
