Hi! My name is Jenn Best and I'm a photographer in North Vancouver, BC specializing in stylish weddings and whimsical portraiture. Really though, I just love photographing people; their personalities, their moments, their memories, their lives.

This blog is all about sharing the world as I see it. This is where I will share great photos of my amazing clients, great products for my amazing clients and all the things that are special in my life: the people, the places and the things.

SUMMER - FINALLY!!!

Well, today is the first day of summer - YAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!  The morning started off a bit cloudy but the sun is finally out and it is so nice to see it.  I felt like I was going to start singing that children’s song, you know the one, “Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr Golden Sun Please shine down on me…”  Oh, Crap, now I think I may have that song stuck in my head.  Which is fine as long as the sun stays :P  We’re celebrating in the studio with peonies - well I think I’m celebrating, I think Scott is too busy sneezing - darn allergies :(  But I just L-O-V-E Peonies so we’ll keep them as long as they want to stay.  Enjoy the sun folks.  We’ve got lots of pretty pics coming soon.

JOANNA + NATHAN - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Poteau Cove + Whistler Engagement Session

Joanna + Nathan… First off, I have to say this is going to be a really special wedding to be a part of.  Scott and I have know Joanna and her family for a long time and love them to bits.  Now we are getting to know Nathan and couldn’t be more excited for their August wedding.  I love seeing people and relationships grow.  That’s what life is all about.

So back to Joanna + Nathan… They were introduced by a mutual friend and love being silly together.  Nathan is the nicest guy Jo has ever met and Nathan really loves Jo.  They are huge sports fans and love attending Canucks and Seahawks games every chance they get.  They both drive jeeps and love walking the seawall together and going for coffee.  Jo loves purple.  Nathan loves movies.  And did I mention they both love hockey :)  Nathan proposed at a winery in the Osoyoos and the they will be getting married this August in Vancouver - CAN’T WAIT!!!

OUT OF OFFICE

This is just to let you peeps know that I will be out of the office for the weekend and returning to emails, the internet and the land of photos on Wednesday June 8th.  Feel free to email in the meantime but please know I won’t respond until after Wednesday.

Here’s a pic though for you to enjoy (wish I was going here but I’m not, going someplace warmer :P).  This pic was taken in January in Tofino at the Long Beach Lodge on my iPhone (that’s why it’s so grainy - darn iPhone zoom).

IRIS + JASON - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Granville Island Engagement Session

Iris and Jason and silly, silly, silly and wonderfully at ease with each other.  They are full of laughter and good times.  They enjoy good restaraunts, wineries and architecture.  Iris is a good cook and loves to help others.  Jason is a true support and well organized.  They both have the exact same taste in wrapping paper :)  Jason asked Iris to marry him in San Francisco.  They live in Toronto and will tie the knot here in Vancouver this July.  So excited!

A big shout out to Alicia @ Dreamgroup who is helping to put together this fabulous wedding as well as to the always amazing Ai Nagasawa who did the beautiful makeup for Iris.

JENNY + JEFF - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Granville Island Engagement Photos

Jenny and Jeff are in love.  They are both silly, laid back and tend to dress alike (unintentionally).  They love the outdoors and are often camping, biking or lounging in their hot tub.  They both love to travel and have been to 5 countries and 4 provinces together.  Jenn is gorgeous and reminds me of red headed Natalie Portman.  Jeff is drawn to Jenny’s beautiful smile and Jenny loves Jeff’s muscles (seriously, the guy has cannons for arms - hee hee).  Jeff proposed with some help from Santa as well as family and friends.  She wanted a ring with a coloured diamond and Jeff delivered.  They will be getting married this coming September long weekend at a lighthouse on a gulf island - it’s going to be fabulous!

LYVIA + MARK - Vancouver Wedding Photographer - Swaneset Wedding

You may remember Lyvia + Mark (and their adorable 4-legged guy Kobe) from their engagement sessions x 2. Their wedding was this past February and they had an amazingly fabulously awesome day complete with sunny weather.  Although, though it looked warm it most certainly was NOT.  We had to fight below freezing temps and everyone did beautifully :)  There’s a lot I want to say about this wedding, everything from how much fun we had with everyone to how beautiful Lyvia looked to how adorable Kobe looked (and marked looks super handsome too :P) to how great Swaneset was, and how cute these two are together, etc, etc… but I think I’ll just let some of my fav shots do the talking.  Thanks to The Cross for allowing us to get out of the freezing cold for some Ah-mazing photos, Swaneset, Sweet Thea Cakes, Lolo Jewellery and flowers by bridal beginnings for their amazing work in making Lyv + Mark’s day so amazing!

RACHEL + JON - Vancouver Engagement Session

Rachel and Jon are both outgoing and caring.  They love to walk the seawall in West Van as well as cook dinners together.  Rachel LOVES shoes and has a fabulous shoe collection.  Jon loves Rachel :) He loves to make her laugh.  Rachel has the best laugh.   Jon is from Toronto and introduced Rachel to Bulk Barn :P  They love and support each other so much and are getting ready to tie the knot in July - so excited for their wedding :)

CATHERINE + JAY - Vancouver Engagement Session

Catherine and Jay are elegant, classic and so wonderfully laid back.  I love the way Jay is with Catherine, so respectful and loving.  Catherine is a huge animal lover.  Jay loves motorcycles.  Both of them love to golf.  Jay proposed on the 18th hole with a golf flag that said “Catherine will you marry me.”  Catherine and Jay love movies, puzzles and did I mention golf.  They are getting married this month - I can’t wait.

A Big Thank you to The Shore Club and Northlands Golf and Country club for allowing us to have such a wonderful time and create such great images and memories.
