Sunshine and Palm Trees

We are back home in Vancouver now and already working hard on our long list of projects and client orders we have lined up for the New Year.  I just wanted to say that we’re working on getting back to everyone who inquired while we were away and to those who we need to update and get in touch with - please be patient with us.  There are going to be lots of updates and a few changes this year so keep your eyes open for those.

We had a wonderful break and went to the land of happiness, sunshine and palm trees for 10 days.  It was wonderful.  We attended a fabulous workshop and got to soak up the sun and swim with the fishies afterwards.

Here’s a slice of heaven I had for a few days.  There will be a bigger post all about paradise soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

It’s the last day of 2011!  Every year I am astounded at how fast the time goes by.  Yet again, another year has just flown by.  I remember being a teenager and complaining about how fast a week at summer camp had gone by when a counsellor told me, “just you wait, as you get older it goes faster every year.”  Boy - was he right!!!

We have had such a wonderful 2011 and I’m so thankful to all of our amazing brides + grooms, wedding professionals, families and friends that we have gotten to work with this year.  I hope your New Year’s night is full of warmth and laughter (and hopefully some bubbly).  May 2012 bring you more love than you can handle and all the dreams that live in your heart.

Oh, and 2012 should bring back blogging to Jenn Best Photography - YIPPEEE!!!!.  Stay tuned for new projects as well.

JUST A REMINDER.  WE ARE STILL CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY 16, 2011.  EMAIL WILL BE CHECKED PERIODICALLY.  I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO YOU AFTER A MUCH NEEDED BREAK AND RECHARGE!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It’s Christmas Eve and I have to admit, it doesn’t really feel like Christmas.  That probably has to do with the fact that it’s raining and there’s no snow outside.  That and it’s been a super busy year for us and we’ve been working right up until now (and yes I know, not blogging - oops).  We’re so thankful for all of our amazing couples and families that let us into their lives this year.  We wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful new year full of love and joy.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS UNTIL JANUARY 16 2012.  Email and phone will not be monitored regularly.  If you are inquiring about wedding services for the 2012 season we will try to get back to you sooner otherwise you will hear from us after the 16th.  THANK YOU, we are REALLY looking forward to the rest :)

STAY TUNED in Mid January as regular blogging should resume after then - WE HAVE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL WEDDINGS and FAMILIES TO SHARE - CAN’T WAIT!!!

FLORENCE + RYAN - Granville Island and Locarno Beach Engagement Session - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Our time with Florence and Ryan was really sweet (and miraculously sunny :P).  Florence and Ryan are really sweet.  They met in highschool and now are not only engaged but they also work together.  There both super smart, fun, active and caring.  They are each other’s best friends and love doing everything together - and it shows - they’re so cute!  They love japanese food and lighthearted movies.  They will be celebrating their relationship and joining in marriage this September - can’t wait.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THIS SESSION:  How amazingly cute and happy these two are together, the summery weather we had (I’m only saying this because if you didn’t know, we have NOT been having very much summery weather :( ,  I love the sun and all the light we had during this shoot, the shots in the marina that make it feel like we were shooting in California, the sand, the way the sand feels on your feet, the tall grasses, the red lady bug on the green blade of grass, the driftwood, the glow of the setting sun, the beautiful sky, the way the city looks, the love, the love, the love. :) Such a great time.  THANK YOU Florence and Ryan!

PRISCILLA + BEN: Jericho Beach & UBC Engagement Photos - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Priscilla + Ben are high school sweethearts!  They are both incredibly dedicated and humble people with huge hearts.  They love watching movies and going on vacations together.  The love to eat out and also have a soft spot for Reese pieces and Peanut Butter Daisies.  Ben is athletic and loves animals and Priscilla is super stylish and loves hanging out with her family and friends.  They got engaged on the beach in Mexico and will be tying the knot at the end of July here in Vancouver.  I also have to add that the way Ben is with Priscilla is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.  He is so devoted to her and just looks at her with eyes overfilling with love.

As a side note, we shot down at Jericho beach and I never knew there were bunnies down there - TONS of them.  A fun addition to this animal lover’s engagement session :)

Enjoy some of my favourite images from their session - there are a lot.

THIS IMAGE TAKES MY BREATH AWAY!!! possibly one of my MOST FAVOURITE images ever.  I love the love here *sigh* just perfection!

LAURA + NICK - Waterfall Building & Granville Island Engagement Session - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Laura and Nick are all about having a good time and making each other laugh.  They are very adventurous and travel a lot together.  They have been to 8 countries together.  They love being active and outdoorsy as well as being home bodies and being cozy on the couch.  They love sushi and bubble tea.  Laura loves Nick: he’s super caring, honest and real and loves to make her laugh.  Nick loves Laura: She’s creative, takes good care of him and challenges him to be his best.  They love each other and will be saying “I do” next month here in Vancouver.  CAN’T WAIT!!!

JOANNA + NATHAN - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Poteau Cove + Whistler Engagement Session

Joanna + Nathan… First off, I have to say this is going to be a really special wedding to be a part of.  Scott and I have know Joanna and her family for a long time and love them to bits.  Now we are getting to know Nathan and couldn’t be more excited for their August wedding.  I love seeing people and relationships grow.  That’s what life is all about.

So back to Joanna + Nathan… They were introduced by a mutual friend and love being silly together.  Nathan is the nicest guy Jo has ever met and Nathan really loves Jo.  They are huge sports fans and love attending Canucks and Seahawks games every chance they get.  They both drive jeeps and love walking the seawall together and going for coffee.  Jo loves purple.  Nathan loves movies.  And did I mention they both love hockey :)  Nathan proposed at a winery in the Osoyoos and the they will be getting married this August in Vancouver - CAN’T WAIT!!!

LYVIA + MARK - Vancouver Wedding Photographer - Swaneset Wedding

You may remember Lyvia + Mark (and their adorable 4-legged guy Kobe) from their engagement sessions x 2. Their wedding was this past February and they had an amazingly fabulously awesome day complete with sunny weather.  Although, though it looked warm it most certainly was NOT.  We had to fight below freezing temps and everyone did beautifully :)  There’s a lot I want to say about this wedding, everything from how much fun we had with everyone to how beautiful Lyvia looked to how adorable Kobe looked (and marked looks super handsome too :P) to how great Swaneset was, and how cute these two are together, etc, etc… but I think I’ll just let some of my fav shots do the talking.  Thanks to The Cross for allowing us to get out of the freezing cold for some Ah-mazing photos, Swaneset, Sweet Thea Cakes, Lolo Jewellery and flowers by bridal beginnings for their amazing work in making Lyv + Mark’s day so amazing!

YURI + KEITH - Vancouver Engagement Session

Yuri + Keith are both goofy and easygoing.  They love to eat good food, play games and watch American Idol.  Yuri is very modern and feminine.  Keith is very sporty and loves Coke gummies.  Keith’s proposal brought Yuri to tears.  Yuri loves the rain.  Keith loves Yuri.  They are very very much in love.

Can’t wait for their wedding.

THE ROYAL WEDDING - William + Catherine

Wow!  It’s such a wonderful and surreal experience to watch something (on tv or in real life) that you know is history in the making as well as perhaps a once in a life time experience.  The Royal Wedding really was a real life fairy tale (which by the way gave me goosebumps).  I thought it was just beautiful, the way the abbey was lined with trees, of course Kate’s dress(es) and all the richness of the ceremony and traditions and the anticipation of the kiss.  There was so much to see and frankly it was kinda killing me to just watch and not be able to snap a photo when I saw a beautiful moment unfold.  So to celebrate here are some images I pulled from the good ol’ internet that I thought were some of my favourite moments between the couple and during the whole wedding day (thanks to http://www.celebuzz.com/ and http://www.vogue.com/ for the borrowing of images).

Love this official portrait of the newly married couple - exactly what a Royal Portrait should look like.  And they look very very happy :)

Fav Moments

And the dresses were just gorgeous.  I really thought Kate’s dresses were perfect.  She looked traditional, modern, young and royal all at the same time, a real princess.  And I must say, Her sisiter Pippa looked STUNNING too.  Wow!  Someone’s going to pick her up I’m sure ;P

Looking forward to seeing so much more in the future.  To love, real love, for the Royals - and the rest of us :)
