The Cupcake Girls TV Show - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Some of you may have already seen it but last night Heather and Trevor’s wedding (recently featured in the gorgeous pages of Wedluxe) aired on The Cupcake Girls.  We made sure to watch it so we could see how their amazing tv crew captured the wonderful day and we were surprised to see me on it a few times - CRAZINESS!!! Especially crazy is the super duper closeup of me behind the camera - YIKES!!! So if you get a chance to catch the episode be sure to watch it on the W-Network and probably in the future on the OWN network and see how amazing the wedding was.  If not, here are a few stills we snagged off the tv.

Again, we feel so lucky to have been a part of such an amazing evening for such a wonderful couple.  Thanks again Heather and Trevor for having us :)

JEN + ALEX - Vancouver Aquarium Engagement Session/ Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Here is another beautiful engagement session from last summer with the lovely Jen + Alex.  These two are wonderfully in sync with each other and it’s so obvious how much they admire and love each other.  Wait till you see their amazing wedding - the love was just ooozing out of them :)  For their session we headed to Stanley Park and then to the Vancouver Aquarium - one of their favourite places.  I love the park shots as this spot in the park feels very European to me.  And of course with the aquarium… who doesn’t love beluga whales and jelly fish and all sorts of under the sea creatures.  For the last shot I half expect Ariel herself to swim by.

Enjoy these sunny, happy, joy-filled images.  HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!!

BERNELLE + WILL : Yaletown Engagement Session / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Often I feel like I want to start every blog post exactly the same… by saying that I have the BEST COUPLES in the world to work with.  And that’s because I honestly think I do.  And not because they are just “ridiculously good-looking” (thank you Zoolander), and not becuase they are super sweet to me (thank you, thank you) but mainly because of who they are as people and how they are together.  Bernelle and Will are so genuine and sincere and we had fun getting to know them at this engagement session, but it was even more amazing to see them with their family and friends are their wedding day.  You know I love me some really smiley, happy people, and Bernelle and Will are these people.  They care so much about the people in their lives… and also the animals in their lives including their family dogs and their very own rescue dog.  Enjoy some of these images we took while exploring their own neighbourhood of Yaletown and with their little fur baby.

ANDREA + MIKE: Granville Island & Locarno Beach Engagement Session / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

So before I go ahead with all of my weddings, I figured I should finish off with some of our amazing engagement sessions of last year… especially since we’re already getting into engagement sessions for this year :P

This is Andrea and Mike.  They are total awesomeness.  We had such a great time getting to know them at their e-shoot and their wedding.  It took me a while to figure it out but finally at their wedding I realized that Mike completely reminded me of Scott’s younger brother, not only do they look similar but their mannerisms and sense of humour are almost identical.  And Andrea is just the sweetest and nicest person so the two of them together make for some awesome times.

We shot the first half of their session at Granville Island and then headed to Locarno Beach to catch the sunset.  And I have to say, that even though the beach was the busiest I had ever seen it (that’s what we get for shooting on a Saturday in August) this beach shoot is one of my faves EVER!!! The stunning light, the beach, water and mountains all combined to show off my favourite aspects of the city and then add in a beautiful couple, super cutely dressed in gorgeous colours and I’m in heaven.

Just ENJOY!!! I know I’ve already loved looking at these again.  Brings back lots of fun memories for me too.  And seeing the sun makes me happy :)  Please come out again soon Mr. Sun.

Happy Valentines Day

Rainy Weekend

It’s Friday.  It’s late.  It’s time for the weekend.

I’m looking forward to a busy work weekend full of shoots and meetings but I’m sure the rest of you might be looking forward to the opposite.  I just thought I’d post a few photos from a personal trip to seattle last year on a very similar weekend - a rainy one.  We tend to go to Seattle A LOT through out the year, some trips are just for shopping but this one was with friends and was meant as a touristy and activity weekend.  It rained and it rained and yet we walked around, visited the aquarium, the zoo, the pike place market, the library and even the gum wall.  Maybe this weekend you plan on doing some similar activities here in Vancouver or maybe you’re even planning on heading down to Seattle for some shopping and sightseeing.  If you do plan on heading to seattle, don’t forget about using CITY PASS - allows you to see 6 attractions at half the price.  Depending on what you want to do it can really be a good deal.  In any case, enjoy some shots from my personal collection - just goes to show you can still take pretty pictures even when it’s crummy outside :)  CHEERS TO THE WEEKEND!!!

ALL OF THESE IMAGES WERE TAKEN WITH A POINT AND SHOOT CAMERA - THE CANON G12.  Very handy for times when I do not feel like carrying an SLR around.

BEHIND THE SCENES IN 2011 - TRAVEL EDITION

So, here it is, the last of the behind the scenes images that shows us and what we got up to last year.  2011 was a fabulous season and was full of a lot of work.  And we found ourselves needing a break at different points in the year.  Here are just some of the places we went to in order to get away from it all and rest up and maybe take some pics and get the creative juices flowing again but WITH NO WORK INVOLVED AT ALL :).  Our first trip was last winter, in early January to Tofino (love Tofino, could go all the time if I could) where we decided to take a bit more of our gear than usual to take more landscape and fine art shots for fun.  Another stop last year was to Hawaii with my family and then in the middle of wedding season, after 8 weeks straight of beautiful weddings we were able to escape to Cannon beach Oregon for a mini break by the sea (And no tax - so awesome).  Enjoy some of the pretty places we visited (and I mean some, we traveled a bit more but ended up not taking any pics on those trips - just too tired)…

TOFINO, BRITISH COLUMBIA…

HAWAII - THE ISLAND OF OAHU…

CANNON BEACH, OREGON…

CATHERINE + JAY - Capilano Golf & Country Club Wedding/ Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Catherine and Jay had a really sweet, family and friend centred wedding day at Capilano Golf and Country Club.  The spring rain didn’t dampen their spirits one bit and they celebrated well into the night.  This couple not only has a big heart and great classic style but they are also uber talented and worked hard at their details for their wedding - Including doing their own reception flowers.  They had one of the most beautiful tea ceremonies I’ve ever seen complete with a gorgeous chinese rug and chairs from their own home - such a great idea.  And Catherine was gorgeous in 4 different dresses.  Thank you so much Catherine and Jay for welcoming us into your lives and having us there to share in your day.

HEATHER + TREVOR : WEDLUXE FEATURE

Last fall we got the amazing honour of photographing the wedding of Heather and Trevor at the newly renovated Hotel Rosewood Georgia.  We are so happy to be able to share this beautiful wedding.  Many of you may recognize Heather from the popular reality tv series The Cupcake Girls.  She is also co-owner/co-founder of all the amazing CUPCAKES stores we have here in Vancouver.  That’s right the store where so many of our amazing couples get their delicious cupcakes and wedding cakes, and YES, Heather’s beautiful cake and cupcakes were from their store and made by their talented pastry chef.

Heather and Trevor are two of the nicest people we’ve ever worked with and they are so in love with each other.  Trevor was truly smitten with his bride all night and couldn’t keep his eyes off of her - it was beautiful to watch.  You really can see how much these two love each other, see their amazing friendship and the beautiful family they are creating with their son.

The night was crowned with gorgeous flowers from Evan at FLOWERZ, was filled with gorgeous stationary from the talented designers at Wintons Social Stationary, and all pulled together flawlessly by the talented Soha at COUNTDOWN EVENTS.  There was lots of love and celebration being shared by all of their family and close friends, a true party that frankly Scott and I felt we could be a part of every night.

Their beautiful wedding was also captured by their wonderful Cupcake Girls film crew so keep an eye out this spring for when their wedding episode airs.  Scott and I can’t wait to see it and will probably share it when we know.

Be sure to pick up your copy of this gorgeous issue of WEDLUXE on newstands now, or at any of the citys wedding shows or here with me when you book your consult for the 2012 season.

ENJOY!

Not only was this beautiful wedding featured in the gorgeous pages of the magazine but also on the WEDLUXE BLOG.  Be sure to head over there and see EVEN MORE beautiful images from this wedding.  Here are many of my favourite images that were shared on the Wedluxe blog

Again, Heather and Trevor, Thank you for having Scott and I with your on your beautiful night.  It was such a pleasure working with you and getting to know your wonderful family and friends.  We wish you endless love and joy in your beautiful family.
