LOVE THAT!!! - BHLDN

There’s this amazing little store from the US called ANTHROPOLOGIE.  I’m sure many of you know it.  I LOVE IT!!! And my little heart is happy because there’s a store coming to Vancouver this spring.  But there’s more good news.  Anthropologie has started a bridal line called BHLDN (pronounced BEHOLD’N I think) and it’s just GORGEOUS!  They not only have very unique bridal gowns, but also bridesmaid dresses, shoes, accessories, coverups, hair pieces and all sorts of wonderfulness.  Sigh, my heart gets happy just looking at all the pretty pictures and fabulous dresses.  Hmmm, maybe it’s almost time for a vow renewal :P  Or a photoshoot… OR… ONE OF MY BRIDES TO WEAR THESE GORGEOUS DRESSES… hee hee.   So brides, go check it out - http://www.bhldn.com/

Love on the Island - Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer

Last month we stopped over on Vancouver Island to visit some family.  Family that we love.  Family that is full of love.  Family that is in love.  These photos aren’t from a wedding, from an engagement shoot or really any special day in particular.  They are just from a place of joy - and I love them.  This is a reminder though, how many of you have photos together other than just your wedding or engagement photos?  Have you thought of anniversary photos or about having a session just-because you’re in love? Or, are there people in your life, such as grandparents, parents, relative, friends, who are wonderfully in love and need photos together.  Don’t wait.  Celebrate your love and joy.  Contact me if you’re interested at jenn@jennbest.ca

In any case, I just wanted to share this beautiful and adorable couple…. so in love.

Rajni + Brandon - VANCOUVER ENGAGEMENT SESSION

When you schedule an engagement session for the end of December, you’re definitely rolling the dice as to what sort of weather you’re going to get.  Basically, you just plan for rain.  So when it turns out to be a gorgeous sunny day with snow on the mountains it’s a definite bonus.  But these two deserved it (although I’m sure Brandon could have done without the cold temperatures :P) !!!  You see Rajni and Brandon are going to medical school and have been living in New York and are planning a wonderful wedding here in the Spring.  They planned to come home for the holidays and also do some wedding planning only to have endured the holidays at the JFK airport for 36 hours thanks to a crazy airline and a blizzard.   I’m sssoooooo glad their stay here in Vancouver is going to be a gorgeous sunny one.

Rajni and Brandon are just wonderful wonderful people and we had such a fun time getting to know each other and taking some fun pics down in Coal harbour.   They really know how to make each other laugh and do also do a fabulous job at keeping each other warm.  They are incredibaly laid back as well as ridiculously good looking (thank you zoolander for taking over this post :P).

Here are just a few of my faves to share with you.  These two know how to work it - I love it! ENJOY!!!

HOLIDAY HOURS

Well it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in the Best household.  The tree is up (although this fresh cut tree does not smell like a tree anymore… do not get me started on how irritating that is), the decorations are on, the sparkles are out and the stockings are hung.

I just wanted to let you know that this week we will be working reduced holiday hours so we may not be as available by email or phone.  We of course are finishing up holiday orders still this week and those waiting for your albums to come, don’t panic - we will of course contact you as soon as they arrive.

As of this Saturday, December 18th the office will officially be closed until early January.  We will be out of the office in January so expect to hear back from us sometime in the New year, most likely mid January.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.  Enjoy eating yourselves silly and drinking yourselves merry.

LYVIA + MARK : Part 2 - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

So you already met Lyvia + Mark.  Now meet their first born Kobe!  SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!! Scott and I are more of big dog people ( I grew up with Golden Retrievers) but this little guy totally melted our heart.  Please notice HOW WELL HE IS SITTING!!! This little dog, saw me grab the camera, sat up straight and looked right at me while I took his photo.  HE DIDN”T MOVE!  It was incredible.  He did better than most people and I think better than all the children we’ve ever photographed.  When we were in the park you could hear all sorts of people walking by saying, “look at that dog! He’s posing for pictures!”  - Yeah, I was just as amazed.  Enjoy this unbelievable BALL OF CUTENESS!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

LYVIA + MARK - PART 1: Olympic Village & Stanley Park Enagement Session

It’s always extra special when we get to shoot the wedding of people we know but I have a confession about these two.  It’s not just the case that we know them and think they’re super awesome and super cute and wanted to shoot their wedding.  It’s that the VERY FIRST time I saw them together (at a work party of Scott’s like 3 or 4 years ago) I said to Scott, “who are they? and I WANT TO SHOOT THEIR WEDDING” ! Oh, Man, These two are Gorgeous - Both of them Models! But I just love them.  They are so sweet and in tune to each other and The way Mark looks at Lyv just melts my heart.  I CANNOT WAIT FOR THEIR WEDDING this February.  Here are a just a few faves from their first session.  Coming up next… the rest of the family :)

KATHERINE + IAN - Granville Island Engagements / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Last night the weather finally cleared up a bit and it was time for Katherine and Ian’s engagement session.  Katherine and Ian were not only perfectly coordinated for their colourful session but really are super sweet together.  I love meeting my couples and watching how they interact and these two definitely have a way of communicating and being together that is so natural and gentle.  They also have an adorable little Woodle (Wheaten Terrier with Poodle) named Bella and she is just the cutest thing.

Thanks guys for the fun time!

I’ve shot at Granville Island many times and ALWAYS love using all the colours.  This though was the first time I actually made a point of getting a bunch of them so we could do this - RAINBOW!! So fun!

CARMEN + NIZAM - Deer Lake Engagement Session / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

I think it is absolutely impossible for Carmen and Nizam to NOT have a good time with whatever they are doing.  These two are hilarious together and have a very contagious sense of goofiness.  They both live in Calgary so we squeezed in their engagement session a week before their wedding.  Though the sun just suddenly dissappeared and we almost got rained we had so much fun strolling around Deer Lake park and the Shadbolt Centre.  And how awesome is it to come across a pile of wood and a stack of green barrels and your clients trust you enough to sit on uncomfortable sharp rocks to take pictures in front of them.  Thanks Carmen and Nizam for the fun session.  Stay tuned for your amazing wedding photos to come next.

LAYLA + ALI - Kerrisdale Engagement Session / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Just before we headed down to Oregon last week we squeezed in a BEAUTIFUL morning session with Layla + Ali.  These two are adorable and amazingly attentive with each other.  They really are gentle people who love to laugh and smile and just be with each other.  They live in Kerrisdale and it was so nice just strolling down the main street and the boulevard and exploring this beautiful place and just hang out.  Thanks Layla + Ali for such a wonderful morning.  Can’t wait for your September reception.  Enjoy some of my favs!

TINA + JEFF: Steveston Engagement Session / Vancouver Wedding Photographer

So the Vancouver weather has been very frustrating overall this spring … and apparently into this summer.  We have been lucky with our weddings so far so I don’t want to jinx it.  But engagement sessions haven’t all been so lucky.  Some of them have been cancelled due to rain only to find sun and others cancelled due to complete washouts.  Tina + Jeff suffered one such day but you know what… IT WAS WORTH IT for the day we got instead.  Tina + Jeff wanted to do something a little different and find a field to run about it so we decided to head to Steveston and take advantage of the farmland that is out there.  In the end we didn’t find a farm to play in but we found a gorgeous field none-the-less (we also found a lot of mosquitos too which I think Tina and I are STILL paying for :P).  Tina and Jeff are adorable together and they work so well together.  It’s easy to see how much they love each other and especially how much Jeff will do for Tina.  I can’t wait for their wedding!

Enjoy a few faves!  I especially lovelovelovelovelovelove the Field shots.  Bonus points to anyone who spots the subconsciously Twilight inspired shot (I love it)!
