BRENDA + DOUG - A cherry blossom + beach engagement session

Brenda and Doug are two of the smartest, funniest and sweetest people we know.  Their session took place last spring when the amazing cherry blossoms were out for the Easter Weekend.  And since we’re noticing that the cherry blossoms are coming and that the Easter Bunny is too we thought we’d share just a few from this gorgeous setting.  We were lucky and happened to stumble upon these perfectly lit cherry blossoms during their session.  These two prove pretty lucky when it comes to locations because we also stumbled upon an awesome location on their wedding day too.  I just love love love how happy these two are together.  They make each other laugh none stop.  You really can feel the love.  Enjoy these Springy images - full of love!

A Rooftop Vancouver Engagement Session - Amanda + Rob - THE WESTIN BAYSHORE

It’s officially spring here in Vancouver (although, at this moment you wouldn’t really know it).  The sun that came out today has been replaced by a downpour of rain - although this is pretty typical for Vancouver.  Rain, Rain, Rain - all the time.  The good thing though is that lots of rain means lots of green trees and pretty flowers.

The best part of spring is that it brings lots of ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS!!! HOORAY!!! We are totally looking forward to all of our awesome engagement sessions for this year and realized that we are really behind on blogging some pretty awesome engagements session that have happened over the past season.

To start off the spring engagement session bloganza we’ll start with one of our most epic ones to date - the engagement session of Amanda + Rob.

When it comes to choosing locations we always start with our couples.  We work with them and find out about their lives, jobs, passions, shared experiences, travels, etc to come with an idea that is all about them and hopefully a bit unique.  Well, when it comes to unique - how about the rooftop of the Westin Bayshore at sunset!!! Oh, and for fun, let’s through in the premiere International Suite too!  Sounds pretty cool to me.  Of course it helps when the groom works at this amazing hotel.  And a big big big shout out to the Westin hotels and resorts - they are one of our fave hotel chains and have THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS EVER!!!!

So without further ado…

Amanda and Rob are just totally awesome!  We first met them a few years back at the wedding of Chandra + Jeff because Amanda is Chandra’s sister.  You know us, we love getting to know families and being able to shoot Amanda and Rob’s wedding was super special.  Amanda and Rob are all about having a great time in life and want to take as much time as they can to pursue their passions like travelling and photography.  Amanda is also a fellow photographer who is working hard at building her business - can’t wait to see what this amazing girl does.  You can check out her facebook page here.

Anyway… we had an amazing time with these two at their session and at their amazing two day wedding.

I also found out that I’m a tad scared of heights.  Due to safety regulations none of us could get very close to the edge - and thank goodness because my poor little heart wouldn’t be able to handle that.  But check out a few shots of these two totally working it!!!  Thanks again guys for such an epic session!

BEHIND THE SCENES IN 2011 - ENGAGEMENT SESSION EDITION - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Well it’s the last day of January and I can NOT believe a whole month of 2012 has already gone by.  So, even though I may be a tad late I thought now might be an appropriate time to show you what we were up to in 2011.  I think this is going to be a three part series, showing behind the scenes of engagement shoots, weddings and some of our travels.  Hopefully you’re not sick of us by the end of the week :)  Here it goes, lets set sail with…

This was our fun engagement session with Florence and Ryan where I was work my ab stablizers and trying hard not to fall in the water.   That little jetty of a dock was soooooooooo wobbly.  luckily I never fell in.

This is Scott hanging out on his own wobbly jetty of a dock trying to catch a shot in case I did fall in.  Just kidding, he just kept telling me not to fall in :)

This AWESOME engagement session hasn’t been blogged yet (don’t worry it will be) and was epic since we were shooting on the roof of a building in downtown Vancouver.  Huh, another place where I had to make sure I didn’t fall off… I might need to pay more attention to where I take my couples (although this was their awesome idea.

Ha!  Seems to be in these shots I could be telling my couples not to fall off.  I’m starting to sense a very unplanned theme in this post.  Although, I do hold my couples up very high in my books :P

Oh, my goodness, this is so not planned.  here is ANOTHER shot of us trying NOT to fall off.  This is getting weird.  But I guess this is to show you more of the fun we got up to.  We all had to cross this little log where the water was definitely deeper than it looks.  Luckily we have great couples who don’t mind taking risks to get to good shooting locations.  And again, I didn’t fall in.

I just think this shot is funny.  I have no idea what I’m saying here but I have a feeling perhaps Nathan is a little unsure of what I’m telling him and Joanna.  He’s such a good guy.

And okay, seems everyone has their feet firmly on firm ground.  But what’s more fun than running through a field of tall grass?!  These two are so cute.  Seems I discovered I have slight allergies this spring.

More cozy shots with Priscilla and Ben.

And other highlights of the season was from our session at the Aquarium (also still to be blogged) but I had the bonus of making friends with a butterfly while shooting.  And the image on the right is NOT from an engagement session but this little family session was so fun.  And when I found the shot Scott got of me with a bear on my head, well, I thought you guys might want to know what you are getting yourselves into with my crazy self - fun times, fun times!

Thanks to all of our great couples (and families).  We had so much fun just hanging out and getting to know you during your e-sessions.  Thanks for trusting us to take you to all sorts of dangerous places.  Hee Hee.

A MUCH NEEDED REST + A LOOK AHEAD

This is just a quick note to say that we are going to be out of the office until Wednesday August 10th as we are in need of a restful break.  We’ve been super busy shooting up a storm for the last 6 weeks straight and are taking the opportunity to relax and restore.  So we’ll see you once we’re back.  Although I’m giving you a heads up that we’re back and then we’re running away again to celebrate our upcoming anniversary :)

Here’s a pic to celebrate this trip - we’re headed somewhere coastal.

Also, here are some teaser shots to give you an idea of what’s to come on the blog.  We’ve got more too in the works - these are just a few peeks at what we’ve been up to and the fabulous people we’ve been working with.

PRISCILLA + BEN: Jericho Beach & UBC Engagement Photos - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Priscilla + Ben are high school sweethearts!  They are both incredibly dedicated and humble people with huge hearts.  They love watching movies and going on vacations together.  The love to eat out and also have a soft spot for Reese pieces and Peanut Butter Daisies.  Ben is athletic and loves animals and Priscilla is super stylish and loves hanging out with her family and friends.  They got engaged on the beach in Mexico and will be tying the knot at the end of July here in Vancouver.  I also have to add that the way Ben is with Priscilla is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.  He is so devoted to her and just looks at her with eyes overfilling with love.

As a side note, we shot down at Jericho beach and I never knew there were bunnies down there - TONS of them.  A fun addition to this animal lover’s engagement session :)

Enjoy some of my favourite images from their session - there are a lot.

THIS IMAGE TAKES MY BREATH AWAY!!! possibly one of my MOST FAVOURITE images ever.  I love the love here *sigh* just perfection!

LAURA + NICK - Waterfall Building & Granville Island Engagement Session - Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Laura and Nick are all about having a good time and making each other laugh.  They are very adventurous and travel a lot together.  They have been to 8 countries together.  They love being active and outdoorsy as well as being home bodies and being cozy on the couch.  They love sushi and bubble tea.  Laura loves Nick: he’s super caring, honest and real and loves to make her laugh.  Nick loves Laura: She’s creative, takes good care of him and challenges him to be his best.  They love each other and will be saying “I do” next month here in Vancouver.  CAN’T WAIT!!!

JOANNA + NATHAN - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Poteau Cove + Whistler Engagement Session

Joanna + Nathan… First off, I have to say this is going to be a really special wedding to be a part of.  Scott and I have know Joanna and her family for a long time and love them to bits.  Now we are getting to know Nathan and couldn’t be more excited for their August wedding.  I love seeing people and relationships grow.  That’s what life is all about.

So back to Joanna + Nathan… They were introduced by a mutual friend and love being silly together.  Nathan is the nicest guy Jo has ever met and Nathan really loves Jo.  They are huge sports fans and love attending Canucks and Seahawks games every chance they get.  They both drive jeeps and love walking the seawall together and going for coffee.  Jo loves purple.  Nathan loves movies.  And did I mention they both love hockey :)  Nathan proposed at a winery in the Osoyoos and the they will be getting married this August in Vancouver - CAN’T WAIT!!!

IRIS + JASON - Vancouver Wedding Photographer, Granville Island Engagement Session

Iris and Jason and silly, silly, silly and wonderfully at ease with each other.  They are full of laughter and good times.  They enjoy good restaraunts, wineries and architecture.  Iris is a good cook and loves to help others.  Jason is a true support and well organized.  They both have the exact same taste in wrapping paper :)  Jason asked Iris to marry him in San Francisco.  They live in Toronto and will tie the knot here in Vancouver this July.  So excited!

A big shout out to Alicia @ Dreamgroup who is helping to put together this fabulous wedding as well as to the always amazing Ai Nagasawa who did the beautiful makeup for Iris.
