TWO CUTIES! Twin Baby Boys - Vancouver Kids Photographer

So yesterday I got an awesome surprise when one of my best friends popped by with her twin boys. She and her boys totally made my day.  THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! I just have to a share a few from their impromptu photo session.  ENJOY THE CUTENESS and THE LONG WEEKEND!!!

Not much is cuter than sleeping babies…

… although when they smile in their sleep… IT’S ADORABLE !

The boys were peaceful together for a few minutes…

until… POW!  :)

A FIELD OF YELLOW FLOWERS - MAYNE ISLAND

During our trip to Mayne Island last weekend we got some time to do some exploring of the island, check out some beaches, hike to some viewpoints… that sort of thing (more photos to come).  And on one such adventure we spotted an awesome field of yellow flowers.  I WAS SO EXCITED!!! And knew we had to get closer.  So, when one of your best friends leads the way through knee length grasses and straight into an endless field of yellow flowers what do you do?  You make her and her fiance pose for photos that’s what :P  These awesome flowers are all over the island are really pretty.  And thanks to my lovely bride Kate, found out that they are broom bushes.  A big Thank You to Meagan and Etienne for trampling through the large array of bugs and allergens to get these impromptu shots (warning - expect the same to happen at your wedding :P ).  Enjoy!

MAYNE ISLAND ENGAGEMENT SESSION: KATE + JASON

Scott and I are really looking forward to Kate and Jason’s wedding on Saltspring island this summer.  We both love the gulf islands so much and got even more excited when Kate + Jason told us about their cabin on Mayne Island that they go to almost every weekend.  Since it was such an important place to them and a place we’ve always wanted to go we made sure to do their engagement session there.

Kate and Jason are such a wonderful couple.  I know I’ve been saying that about all my couples but I really mean it for all of them and these two were no exception.  They are super laid back, very comfortable together and full of love, joy and laughter.   Not only are they smarty smarty and have good style and taste but they also love good food and wine and are quite the foodies.  Kate herself is an amazing cook and even has her own blog - be sure it to check it out *warning though, maybe don’t look at it if you’re really hungry.  Her recipes are all so good and the pictures will just make you even hungrier :)

We started their session at their cabin and I just loved it.  Not to mention that the light all morning made shooting an absolute dream.

We then headed to Oyster Bay where Kate + Jason like to hang out.  There’s also a whole bunch of sea lions that like to hang out there too.  We also had bald eagles and turkey vultures to entertain us.

When Scott and I get to shoot together we have a lot of fun and I feel so relaxed having him with me.  Also it’s fun to see the different (or sometimes similar) ways we see things.  The image on the left is my image and the one on the right is Scott’s.  Love it!

*sigh* love this shot too!  This one is mine and the vertical shot after is how Scott saw them.

Again, this one is mine and the second one is Scott’s shot.  We were both pretty excited!  Kate and Jason are so fun and so in love.

And last but not least.  This is Kate’s gorgeous ring which is actually Jason’s grandmothers ring.

Thanks sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much Kate and Jason for such a great session.  We had so much fun with you guys and want thank you for introducing us to the island.  And also for your patience with our bad navigating - usually we’re much better :)  ENJOY!!!

MONDAY INSPIRATION

What I know for sure is this: You are built not to shrink down to less, but to blossom into more.  To be more splendid.  To be more extraordinary.  To use every moment to fill yourself up.”   - Oprah

Coal Harbour + Stanley Park Engagement: CHANDRA + JEFF

I always have fun with my couples and always feel so lucky to be able to be a part of their wedding and their marriage.  I’m lucky enough to say that I love and get along with all of my couples.  But I have to admit that Chandra and Jeff hold a special place in my heart.  For starters… I’ve known Jeff since we were 10 years old.  Somewhere in there at least (I’m getting older and can’t seem to remember that far back :P no comments please).  Anyway, Jeff and I went to elementary school and highschool together and now I feel so honoured to be there to capture all the love on his wedding day.  And he couldn’t have picked a more awesome girl.  Chandra is a very talented graphic designer and super fun and stylish.  These two are adorable together and super funny and witty.  I know we’re in for a barrel of laughs at the wedding (actually I should say weddings as we’re in for two days of fun).  Oh, and I have to say that Jeff proposed to Chandra in front of the pyramids in Egypt.  HOW GREAT IS THAT!!! *sigh*

For their session we headed down to coal harbour, strolled over to the new convention centre and then made a mad dash for the beach before the sun went down … and we barely made it.  Thanks guys for such an awesome session.  I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE WEDDING!!! Only 106 days left :P

And I seem to have started a tradition of posting my favourite image first - so here it is!  I LOVE IT!!!

Whitecliffe Park - West Vancouver Family Portraits

The weather has been so great this last week and I sometimes have to pinch myself when I get to work with such wonderful people in such wonderful places.  This family was no exception.  We planned to meet at Whitecliffe park where the girls often played as kids.  It was such a wonderful night and this is such a sweet family.  And of course Pepo the dog keeps everyone entertained :)  Enjoy!!!  And stay tuned… there will be more of this family to come in the coming months… just you wait.

Richmond Oval + Iona Beach Engagement - Carmen + Joe

I remember when Carmen and Joe came to meet me.  These two were so cute and we laughed the whole time during the consult - I knew they were going to have a GREAT wedding.  So when they called back  I was so excited to be able to be a part of their wedding.  When it came time for their engagement session I was ready to go with excitement.  We planned to do their session at the Richmond oval to incorporate a little architecture before heading over to Iona Beach.  Thanks to some crazy Friday rush hour traffic the sunset timing was perfect.  And the family of geese added a nice touch when we arrived at Iona Beach (see this post).

Carmen and Joe are beautiful people inside and out.  Their love for each other is so honest and a privilege for me to capture.  Thanks guys for such a great session.

This is a little out of order but this is MY FAVOURITE image from their session.  Had to post it first.  I *heart* the love and peace you can feel between them.  *sigh*

INSPIRATION MONDAY - Family + Love

“To Love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.” -David Viscott

Just wanted to share this little video I shot on Friday evening after a wonderful engagement session.

Hope it makes you smile and love your little family.

P.S.  I L-O-V-E the cute little trailing baby goose - so cute!

GLOSS BEAUTY STUDIO

Last fall I did one of my favourite shoots EVER thanks to Renee and Sabrina at Gloss Beauty Studio.  These girls are super super super talented and they called me to do a photoshoot with them so that they could update their website.  These ladies did a fabulous job  and can do things with makeup that I can’t even imagine.  Everyone had such a great time - it was like our very own America’s Next Top Model set (or CNTM).  And how could you not have fune with a great place to shoot (thanks Joy - the wonderful designer at Amour Event Designs for your studio space), all the fabulous models, makeup makeup makeup, snacks, hair design, more makeup and more fun.  I can’t wait to do it all again and collaborate on future projects.  Be sure to check out Renee and Sabrina’s work and more photos from the shoot at Gloss Beauty Studio.  Renee is available here in Vancouver and Sabrina is available in Calgary.  Thanks girls for the awesome day!

A few behind the scenes shots.  CHECK OUT ALL THE MAKEUP!!! And there is the lovely Renee working her magic.

Sabrina applying the finishing touches.

Then it was on to shooting…

and I think this one was my FAVOURITE shot from the whole day.  I love the gold and red.  GORGEOUS!!!
